The dates and venue of 32nd FIMA council meeting were finalized in the FIMA executive meeting held in Medina el Munawarah. The FIMA council meeting will be held on 12-13th August 2015 followed by FIMA-IMANI scientific meeting.

The meeting will be held in the beautiful and picturesque Island of Makassar, the capital of south Sulawesi, Indonesia. Makassar has been chosen as the venue of FIMA council meeting as it has a central position and has a great toursit attraction in the eastern acrchipelago. It is considered a gateway to thousands of remote islands which are being developed and incorporated into the mainstream of Indonesian society and economy.

The theme for this scientific meeting is Healthy Life Style and Disease, Hospital Management, and Health Insurance. The selection of the theme is based on evolving issues in Indonesian society and the international community in accordance with the commitment to the MDGs and degenerative diseases as well.

Makassar also has a rich tradition and legacy and has played a key role in Indonesian history. The 16th-century Gowa Empira was based here until the Dutch weighed in. Three centuries later, in the 1950s, the Makassarese and Buginese revolted unsuccessfully against the central government. But later it becamse a part of the Indonesian federation peacefully.

Makassar is also known as the gateway to the eastern part of Indonesia and an entry point for an adventurous tour to Bira, Selayar, Tana Toraja highlands, and other tourist destinations at South Sulawesi. Today, Makassar is a bustling city with inhabitants from all over the archipelago.

Makassar not only offers cultural tours but it also provides access to many magnificient island tours with white sand beaches such as Samalona Island, Kodingareng Keke, and other islands that are ideal for swimming, sunbathing, and snorkeling or diving. Makassar also offers culinary tours ranging from traditional Indoensian, South East Asian foods, and a variety of seafood.

I am sure the FIMA delegates will thoroughly enjoy their stay in Makassar and IMANI colleagues will extend the best of Indonesian hospitality to their guests.

A few weeks back, Nepal was hit by the worst earthquake in its history. FIMA and its members and partners once again took the lead in provision of emergency medical relief services. Dr. Ashraf Jedaar has separately sent a request to all the IMAs to come forward to help the Nepalese earthquake victims. The newly formed IMA Nepal has played a pivotal role in extending its full support to the IMA teams who rushed to Nepal in the rescue missions.
