BIMA Update

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Assalaam Alaikum wa Rahmatulahi wa Barakatuh!

Hope you are all well and looking forward to Eid! To those of you going on Hajj, may Allah bless your journey and accept your efforts and ibadah!

A few updates:

1. BIMA is now an associate member of FIMA (Federation of Islamic Medical Associations) Alhamdulillah, after their executive council accepted our application to join, in a meeting held on 19-20th September 2013 in Cape Town, South Africa. Thus BIMA joins an exciting legacy of IMAs around the world and FIMA will no doubt be a great support in helping us to establish ourselves as a relevant organisation inshaAllah

2. BIMA is currently in the process of organising regional networks, and members will be contacted by their regional leads soon to start planning activities in their region. The North West have already met and the Yorkshire region are planning a meeting soon. Thus if you have not already done so, please fill in the online membership form http://www.BritishIMA.org/membership.html so we can know which region you are based in.

Parallel to the work in the regions, the different BIMA committees are continuing to plan and develop projects and services for members. Watch this space!

3. The Health Services Journal is is launching a search for people from black and minority ethnic backgrounds who are at the heart of creating a high quality, inclusive health service and are accepting nominations.

If you know anybody who you would like to nominate for this award, we highly recommend you do so and and to encourage others to as well!

4. Attached is a health advice brochure that has been created to help those blessed people about to embark on Hajj this week inshaAllah. Please feel free to forward on to your contacts.

5. With Eid soon approaching, we would like to suggest to our members that you may want to organise an Eid lunch in your hospital. This was done by one of our members last Eid and was very simple to organise yet much appreciated by those who attended. All one has to do is get in touch with their Chaplaincy and request that they arrange this. If you want more information, help or sponsorship, BIMA may be able to help. Please remember BIMA in your duas in these blessed 10 days, especially if you are performing Hajj this year!

JazakAllahkhair,

Wasalam
