IMANA Relief and PIMA launch a “Mobile Mother and Child clinic”

A fully equipped “Mobile mother and child clinic” was launched in the club premises of Model Town Society in Lahore this Sunday the 24th July, where a large number of local dignitaries were gathered to bid a farewell to this mobile hospital which took off for offering its services in flood hit areas of south Punjab and Swat.


This project is sponsored by the medical relief wing of “Islamic Medical Association of North America”, PIMA, FIMA and local philanthropists. The service is of international standard with provisions for medical examination, minor surgery, ultrasound and mini lab with a fully stocked pharmacy.


A toilet, kitchen and a retiring room has also been provided to ease the working of on board staff. This mobile hospital will provide a medical cover to around 20, 000 female and young children in the months to follow. The project was inaugurated by the former Lord Mayor of Lahore, Mian Amer Mahmood and the function was presided over by Prof. Dr. Kh. Sadiq Husain the former principal of King Edward Medical College, Lahore. The speakers lauded the efforts of IMANA Relief and Dr. Tanveer Zubairi, Secretary of FIMA for initiating such a highly needed healthcare venture.

 

The residents of Model Town offered their support and pledged to augment this project on a long term basis. A group of three students from USA is also volunteering to work in the flood hit areas on behalf of IMANA Relief to work for this mobile hospital for four weeks headed by Mr. Ali Salman, a 2nd year student of Sophie Davies Med School, NY.
